Side by side comparison of these platforms:

1. Features:

PrestaShop has a wide range of great features and they can be installed very quickly, too.  Prestashop search & advanced search module are excellent, while being comparatively faster than Magento.

Magento provides many out-of-the-box features like: CMS, customer groups, product comparison, Multi Store etc., for online businesses.  Magento also provides SEO features which makes it a fully versed solution for the eCommerce platform. Magento also provides better design/UI and is leading with any product in the market.

2. Ease of use:

PrestaShop: Relatively easy to set up and add features in it.  It also has a very good user-friendly interface.

Magento: Requires lots of extensions to set up like PDO, CURL etc.

3. Price:

PrestaShop VS Magento on Price PrestaShop is a single application that is totally open source and free, with no monthly fee. To use this software, you only need to download and install it on your web hosting account, then you can start to benefit from it and enjoy your online presence.

Magento, however, has 3 editions named Magento Community Edition, Magento Go, and Magento Enterprise Edition. The Community Edition is an open source software that is available for free to download and install; Magento Go is a small business hosting solution priced from $15/mo; and the Enterprise Edition is designed for large businesses and enterprises, coming with license fees starting from $15,550/year.

4.Compatibility :-

It has very less compatibility issued as compared to the Magento . It is because Prestashop requires simple  system requirements .

5. Design integration:

Magento can be slightly complicated in this regard, and sometimes requires an expert to handle the UI issues

6. SEO compatibility:

Magento has better support for SEO, compared to Prestashop.

7.Which Is Better?

Both shopping carts are extremely efficient, flexible and scalable. It is hard to say which one is better, but from the perspective of ease of use, we would like to recommend PrestaShop, as it has a more clean structure that is easy to manage and customize.

 Reason Why Prestashop Sucks

a) PrestaShop certainly does have a lot more module and it’s a lot more commercial, but to get a real store up and running you’re most likely going to have to spend a fair bit more money and if you’re looking to make enhancements there’s a good chance you’ll run into all sorts of issues.

b) Cost of Development:Looking to hire a developer to customize your site? Not easy. Prestashop developers are at least 30%-40% more expensive than Opencart or WordPress Developers.

c) Lack of scalability. Prestashop is really suitable for small stores, but certainly matter if you wish to use it for full scale shopping web page. Other problem is that Prestashop solution has not the multi-user interface.

d) Lack up updates:I found too many plugins aren’t compatible with the latest version of Prestashop.  I was running v1.5 and had to update most of  the existing plugins, only I couldn’t find updates. A lot of the plugins developers charge extra for the simplest upgrades.

e) Ugly themes:Compared to other CMS’s I found Prestashop templates were very 2010ish.
